Shifting Jenkins World Left and Deploying DevOps World

PAN Communications

Everyone has that event that they look forward to each year, whether it’s 4th of July on Cape Cod with the family, Amazon Prime Day or the office summer party. For DevOps practitioners, software developers and even a couple members of the PAN Communications team, that event is Jenkins World.

The countdown to DevOps World | Jenkins World 2018 officially began last week as PAN client CloudBees, the conference organizer, along with the Jenkins community, released the agenda for the forthcoming event. This year’s conference theme – TRANSFORM – is designed to help attendees learn how businesses are transforming software delivery, adopting DevOps and returning business value to their organizations from DevOps initiatives. But that isn’t the only thing transforming.

This year marks the metamorphosis from Jenkins World into DevOps World. The event widely known as the world’s largest gathering of IT executives, DevOps practitioners and Jenkins users is getting even bigger. What started in 2011 as a small morning gathering in Boston – known then as the Jenkins User Conference – has evolved into the conference for Jenkins users, DevOps professionals, the hottest companies in the DevOps space, and tech giants, attracting more than 2,000 attendees. With a significant increase in industry adoption and interest in DevOps in the past few years, CloudBees wanted to scale the topics covered at Jenkins World to create an event where people could meet and learn from each other and enhance their knowledge of not only Jenkins but the whole DevOps landscape. As CloudBees VP of Marketing Andre Pino says, “This year’s DevOps World 2018 conference is bringing together the best of both DevOps and Jenkins to form the most comprehensive industry event for IT practitioners across the globe.”

The conference is also taking “world” literally – expanding beyond the Bay Area to include a second conference in Nice, France, to better serve the industry’s global audience. Given the fact that Jenkins is the de facto continuous delivery and DevOps orchestration tool, with an estimated 1 million users around the world, and is widely considered the most popular automation server in use today, it only makes sense to bring the event to the international stage.

To keep pace with the tremendous growth in DevOps adoption, DevOps World | Jenkins World 2018 has expanded its content with a breadth of industry topics. It will host more than 70 sessions at the San Francisco conference and more than 50 in Nice, covering a variety of DevOps and Jenkins topics. Sessions will be conducted by practitioners from organizations such as Accenture, Allianz, BBC, CyberArk, Forrester Research, Fresenius Medical Care Deutschland, Southwest Airlines, Twitter and CloudBees. Topics will include security, pipeline automation, containers, DevOps adoption and continuous delivery best practices. Kohsuke Kawaguchi, the creator of Jenkins and CTO at CloudBees, and Sacha Labourey, CloudBees’ CEO and co-founder, will deliver keynotes in both locations. Dr. Nicole Forsgren, CEO and chief scientist, DORA, will speak in San Francisco, and James Governor, analyst and co-founder, RedMonk, will take the stage in Nice.

It’s no surprise to us that Jenkins World has grown to be such an influential conference over the past few years.  We love planning, promoting, pitching and perfecting our Jenkins World strategy each year. For those ready to see DevOps World for yourself, you can learn more here.

We’re ready to move.
