The BSides-Black Hat-Defcon marathon is almost here and the security world is gearing up for that dry desert heat!

We know that big industry events like Black Hat provide a host of opportunities to get in front of influential audiences. As security PR and integrated marketing pros, we understand that digital media strategy plays an important role.

You may be asking yourself, ‘How can I refine and improve my digital media strategy and execution around marquee industry events like Black Hat?’

That’s where PAN comes in. After RSA Conference 2016 wrapped, the PAN IT security team embarked on a mission to research and analyze all the digital chatter pertaining to the event. Why? At PAN, our strategic comms programs are data-driven. In this case, we were curious to dig into an especially active time period for security industry conversation online (late Q1/early Q2) and get a clear view on who was talking, listening, engaging and about what subject matter specifically.

By better understanding the who, what, when, where and why of social influence around RSA Conference 2016, we can then extrapolate best practice tips for honing digital media strategy around forthcoming infosec events like Black Hat.
