Openings

Intern

Looking to gain more experience in the PR field? PAN Communications offers summer, fall, winter, and spring semester internships. You'll experience the day-to-day operation of a mid-sized PR firm. Throughout this internship, you'll participate in every aspect of account(s) you are assigned (e.g. attend all client meetings, draft opportunity memos, create new media lists, pitch media and analysts, etc.)

Responsibilities include: updating client media lists; maintaining the media library; developing regional databases; assembling press or new business kits and mailings; research and database creation for awards and close work with individual accounts, both on a regular and ad hoc project basis. We are looking for interns who are currently majoring in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, and/or Marketing, and can offer credible PR and administrative skills to this fast-paced work environment. We require an intern that is able to multi-task, is organized and enthusiastic. Ability to work at least 20 hours a week and personal transportation to and from our office in Andover, Massachusetts, a must.

Junior Associate

Start your PR career at PAN Communications, an energetic but supportive atmosphere where you’ll work hard to keep your clients up-to-speed on their team’s activities. If you combine good media understanding with assertive phone skills and an insatiable desire to learn, we’re looking for you: you’re a recent college graduate with a track record in writing, customer service, and creativity. Or maybe you’re looking for a career change—our staff draws on diverse experience, from journalism and sales to catering and professional skiing.

Responsibilities include: maintaining knowledge of industry-specific current events; helping to secure meetings for clients at trade shows and conferences; creating briefing books, confirmation letters, and follow-up for client interviews; managing clients’ press release distribution and clips; and maintaining media lists of new beat reporters that cover your clients’ business. B.S./B.A. or equivalent required and 1 - 2+ years of experience in PR or a related field, which can include internships.

Associate

Do you love pitching and working with the media? Then you’ll love being an Associate at PAN. We’re looking for publicists who consider themselves news junkies, are skilled communicators and who have a passion for using their creativity for high-impact results.

At PAN, your responsibilities include monitoring current events and trends to create outstanding opportunities for your clients; using their industry knowledge and products for stand-alone coverage that helps them sell, and being the core media relations engine for your programs. Your account teams will count on you to understand your clients’ markets and provide counsel for their media relations activities. PAN was an early influencer in shaping how blogs and other forms of ‘new media’ blend strategically into traditional media relations. Here you’ll be immersed in new media strategy and practicing its tactics, including work with bloggers, wikis, podcasts and initiating viral campaigns.

Other responsibilities include: fluency with the agency resources and online client databases; understanding the client's products and services, markets, and competitors; developing relationships with top-tier trade and business publications’ key people and audiences; formulating pitches, and securing trade and business coverage for clients; and staying on top of industry-related (i.e., client-related, competitive, industry wrap-up) news. B.S./B.A. or equivalent required and 1 - 2+ years of experience in PR. Associates at PAN typically have worked at other agencies or have been involved with media relations campaigns in a corporate setting.

Senior Associate

PAN’s Senior Associates have one foot in the management role. You’ll be relied upon to give top-notch counsel to your clients and frequently be called upon to represent the firm to clients’ senior teams. You’ll learn to manage programs, mentor staff and drive both traditional and ‘new media’ relations. Your work will have a direct, high impact on your clients and the firm’s growth.

PAN was an early influencer in shaping how blogs and other forms of ‘new media’ blend strategically into traditional media relations. Here you’ll be immersed in new media strategy and practicing its tactics, including work with bloggers, wikis, podcasts and initiating viral campaigns.

Additional responsibilities include: overseeing the editorial opportunities program and staff, developing media pitches, corresponding with and providing counsel to clients, maintaining client contacts, writing press releases, supporting account manager and acting in a program management capacity as needed, providing status reports at team and company staff meetings, overseeing weekly account team meetings, and mentoring junior staff. B.S./B.A. or equivalent required and 3 - 5+ years of experience in PR or a related field.

Account Manager

Account Managers at PAN are both strategic thinkers and terrific implementers, responsible for running a PR program from inception to completion. The AM develops and drives program strategy, counsels clients and acts as a day-to-day contact, effectively pitches high-level business press and other top-tier media outlets, writes compelling press materials, develops client budgets, and oversees and mentors the internal account staff.

5 to 7 years experience in high technology public relations preferably in an agency setting BA/BS degree Proven managerial experience is a must

Senior Account Manager

Our senior account managers oversee their teams’ media outreach, leverage proven contacts across the country and work with our clients on a strategic level to provide that "extra" layer of day-to-day strategy in partnership with our clients’ senior management teams. You’ll bridge client strategic needs and day-to-day media and analyst relations, the primary responsibilities of account managers. You’ll work with account managers to mentor team members, monitor progress, and troubleshoot. We’ll look to you when we need to deliver that big "hit" for a client, using your years of media and analyst relations to craft a pitch, determine the right analyst to pursue, or get the attention of an editor.

Responsibilities include: providing ongoing client counsel; writing plans; supervising client projects, trade show events, and press tours; developing and managing budgets while monitoring the teams’ billability; forecasting and analyzing revenue; overseeing performance management for direct reports; delivering on professional development goals; and assisting with new business efforts. B.S./B.A. or equivalent required and 7 - 10 years of experience in PR or a related field, preferably in an agency for part of that time, with proven supervisory and budget experience.

Director

PAN offers the right candidates a motivating and professionally rewarding career in public relations. You’ll own and grow a portfolio of clients as you provide strategic counsel to their executive leadership and supervise account teams under the direction of senior account managers and account managers. We’ll rely on you to grow and nurture PAN, our clients, and our employees as we count on your entrepreneurial leadership as a strategist, mentor, and implementer. Each director at PAN also manages an internal project, like event planning, professional development, or affiliate relationships.

Responsibilities include: managing P&L for your portfolio of accounts; managing new business efforts; establishing relationships with key industry influencers; maintaining relationships with trade and business media, Wall Street analysts, etc.; handling the client contract process; ensuring team members meet development and performance management goals; handling employee relations and productivity of account teams; and forecasting client budgets. You’ll also promote PAN’s culture, ethics, quality control, and values. B.S./B.A. or equivalent required and 10+ years of experience in PR or a related field, in an agency for part of that time, coupled with direct experience in one or more practices: technology, professional services, and consumer programs. Proven managerial, budget and communication skills. Investor relations experience or working knowledge of Wall Street is a plus.
