Here at PAN, we consider ourselves social media experts – whether we’re attracting followers for our clients (or stealing a couple of minutes to monitor our personal accounts), we spend quite a bit of time working the social media scene. If you walk around the office, chances are you’ll encounter a few opinions about their favorite person they follow on Twitter.
So that’s what I decided to do. I asked a few of my esteemed colleagues: “Who is your favorite person to follow on Twitter… and why?” Here’s a sampling of the responses – we hope you find them as helpful and entertaining as we do!
@FrankEliason – the original @ComcastCares guy. He defined using Twitter to interact with customers and made Comcast a leader in social media at the beginning. Plus he’s pretty funny and a great person to meet. – Katelyn
@lvanderpool – Lisa van der Pool – She’s the all-things Boston city girl and a reporter for the @BBJNewsroom and contributor to @styleboston, one of my favorite shows. She’s down-to-earth and pretty funny. I’m hoping that with enough RT’s, when the day comes when I do pitch her, she’ll recognize my name. Score. – Megan
One of my favorites is @mgrahan969. Boston talk radio talk show host/ political satirist/ blogger. Tweets about current local and national issues & gives his retrospect that is not only pretty funny but sometimes just makes a little too much sense. – Jess R
@dooce …aka Heather Armstrong of dooce.com. Because she is THE best “mom” blogger out there and she recently tweeted about matching your lipstick color to your razor burn. – Emily T
Andrew Phelps, NPR Boston ( @andrewphelps) — Solid combo platter of news, culture and offbeat musings. – Andy
@PRtweets – variety of Tweets covering social media, PR campaigns, product releases, and relevant news. Often ask for feedback on projects to help keep those creative juices flowing. Every now and then you will find an example of a PR campaign gone wrong which can provide some humor to your day. – Kyle
Bill Simmons, ESPN writer (@sportsguy33)—Good broad-based sports knowledge peppered with cultural observations…and he’s a Celtics fan, too. – Andy
@kdpaine – Katie Delahaye Paine knows social media and measurement. As seen in her bio, she’s even been called the Queen of Measurement. She has great tweets about PR, social media, writing and then personal tweets. She constantly engages with her followers truly defining the point of social media—interaction. – Katelyn
@JetBlue- because it’s always an interesting lesson in PR to see how they are going to handle their latest kerfuffle. – Kristin
@EditingWhiz – Chris Preimesberger at eWeek’s a tech veteran and savvy commentator on the latest in technology news. Plus he answers his phone and he’s a good guy, so extra points for that. – Adam
Peter Shankman, tech entrepreneur (@petershankman)– He’s a social media guru and has a finger on pulse of industry. A must for folks in PR industry. – Andy
@BostonTweet—whether its traffic, news, deals at Boston places- Tom O’Keefe is the twitter for all things Boston. It’s a great up-to-the-minute twitter stream for Boston and you can always count on new and interesting tweets from Tom. – Katelyn
@Real_Simple – because it gives great tips & tricks (not to mention fast & easy recipes) to make life more simple for time-constrained, on the go professionals. – Kim B
