Yes, we did!
This week is undoubtedly one of the most important weeks in American history. On Monday, we celebrated Martin Luther King, Jr., an incredible American who helped to unify our country when no one thought racial integration in the South could take place.
On Tuesday an event of equally historic proportions took place. Barack Obama became our 44th president. Not only is he a young minority but he is also vibrant, well-spoken and full of incredible ideas. Obama is exactly what this country needs and I am beyond excited to see him lead this country.
But, I think I must admit that the true reason for my excitement is a bit more selfish. And no, it's not because I wanted to see what Michelle Obama would wear.
I am excited because I was ACTUALLY a part of it. With millions of other people around the world, I was planted in front of my TV watching the whole thing go down. Twenty years from now I am going to tell my children and grandchildren that I watched the first black president take office. Now, how cool is that?
What are ya'll anticipating the most in these upcoming days and years when Obama will finally be president? Is it just that you will be living it as well or is it something more specific?
