Why did I choose PR?
Again and again I have been asked why I chose public relations as my major and career choice. For me the choice seemed simple. It incorporates all my interests: writing, creativity, people skills, research, and most importantly figuring out how to spread a message effectively to the right audiences. However, I think above all that, I liked the challenge of doing that in new ways.
A lot of my experience has been in non-profit public relations with the Syracuse Peace Council. I think I chose these internships because it is public relations at its core. Spreading a message and attempting to sway an audience with as little money as possible. Even though I do not want to go into non-profit public relations, I think this is an important principle, especially in times like these. Businesses and organizations have less and less money to spare. I think this is the perfect time for people to use public relations and save companies with skills not money.
