Discover how a well-researched campaign proved to be a hit for TAC Worldwide’s difficult recruiting task.

TAC Worldwide (TAC) is a leading provider of technical staffing services and customized workforce solutions. TAC’s commitment to service excellence has led it to achieve trusted business partner status with clients from a wide range of industries, including many Fortune 1000 companies. TAC is a subsidiary of Goodwill Group of Japan, the world's fifth largest staffing and workforce management solutions company.
PAN Communications initiated a campaign to raise awareness of TAC’s aptitude in sourcing high-level nuclear, mechanical, and civil engineers for an international nuclear plant program. This meant crafting a message that would resonate with reporters from industry publications as well as traditional business outlets.
The PAN team worked to highlight TAC’s integral role in supplying Westinghouse Nuclear with 350 key contributor engineers and project managers for a major design/build of its nuclear power plant program in Asia. Since the last nuclear plant built in the U.S. was constructed 25 years ago, finding skilled engineers for this global project was going to be challenging. The rollout of six new plants internationally would gain the attention of reporters. While there was little information initially, the team was not deterred. They reached out to disparate internal sources within TAC, drawing out key market differentiators that would be helpful for crafting an interesting media pitch and newsworthy press release.
Instead of focusing on the candidates provided, PAN chose to focus on the “behind the scenes” activities that make TAC so successful. This included promoting TAC’s proprietary sourcing methodology and powerful recruiting network. The team also explained to reporters that because the U.S. won’t be issuing new H1B Visas for the next two years, Westinghouse couldn’t bring overseas talent to the U.S. This made the need for specialized recruiting services to find skilled talent in the U.S. all the more pressing.
In addition, since the new recruits would be working at Westinghouse facilities in Pittsburgh, PA; Ogden, Utah; Norwalk, Conn; and Columbia, S.C., the team felt it was beneficial to leverage local media outlets in these regions to gain additional coverage.
PAN oversaw the press interviews and worked diligently to secure coverage.
The PAN team’s approach paid off, with the agency garnering seven pieces of important coverage, with additional stories in the works. To date, the press release has been published in the Hartford Courant, Pittsburgh Tribune Review, Boston Business Journal, Staffing Industry Analysts – Online, Staffing Industry Analysts – Daily News (email blast), Digital IQ, and EE Times. The Staff Digest, Nuclear News, The Enterprise, and Utah Business Magazine are also planning stories.
